Meet the Chefs
Chef Irfan Pabaney and Rachel Goenka launched the first outpost of The Sassy Spoon at Nariman Point in February 2013.
Chef Irfan Pabaney has been at the helm of some of the most notable restaurants in his 25 years in the restaurant business. Under the Over, Seijo and the Soul Dish, Indigo and Hakkasan have all been important stops on his culinary journey over the past 20 years. After all that time he finally decided to branch out on his own along with his partner and co-owner Chef Rachel Goenka and the duo ventured out to start their dream restaurant The Sassy Spoon.
Chef Rachel Goenka has come a long way since her degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the United States. Post a stint in journalism and advertising she realised her true calling and passion was in food and decided to turn her dream into a reality. Goenka went on to study under celebrity chef Rachel Allen at the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland before specialising in Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu, London. She and Pabaney decided on taking their individual food philosophies and together have embarked on the journey that is The Sassy Spoon & Sassy Teaspoon.
